I would like lips that are plump and luscious, but at the same time discreet, that fit the shape of the face, as natural as possible and absolutely not “pouty.”
These are the most frequent requests made to the cosmetic physician by women suffering from the cosmetic condition of small and tight lips.
The goals of aesthetic medicine to achieve plump lips are basically aimed at:
- Define the contours when these are poorly defined;
- Increase the volume when the lips are thin;
- Proportion the ratios of upper lip to lower lip;
- Restoring proper symmetry;
- Eliminate wrinkles.
The filler: what it is and how long it lasts
It is one of the most popular methods of the moment. It consists of the infiltration along the contour or inside the lips, using very thin needles, ofsubstances suitable for giving volume.
This results in increased volume and better definition of the lip design. The most commonly used products are based on hyaluronic acid and collagen. These are biocompatible and resorbable substances.
Results last on average between 5 and 6 months but the effect and duration vary according to patient characteristics such as age, skin type but also depend on the product used, in fact, more fluid fillers have a shorter duration.
Three main types of fillers each designed for different effects:
- High-density filler for volume enhancement.
- Medium-density filler to redefine contours and smooth out deep wrinkles.
- Low-density filler to improve the appearance and hydration of the lips while allowing the reduction of more superficial wrinkles.
The infiltration can be repeated after a few months and so for a few sessions, until the stimulation of new collagen will cause the result to be long-lasting to permanent.
What is Lipofilling?
Using special microcannulas, the technique involves harvesting fat tissue from the patient’s belly. The autologous fat thus obtained is purified and introduced into the labial muscle with micro-infiltrations hidden in the corners of the mouth.
The amount of fat that takes root stably varies between 30 and 60 percent of that inoculated. The result is therefore long-lasting and stable over time.
Permalip to the lips
This is a silicone mini-prosthesis insertion surgery. These prostheses are available in different sizes according to the volume to be achieved and the starting characteristics.
The result is permanent, but more importantly, reversible. If, in fact, the patient is not satisfied with the result, she can ask to have the implant removed, leaving no marks or scars, and return to her original appearance.
It is important to emphasize that the main aspect to focus on is not so much the choice of techniques used to have beautiful full lips, but rather the choice of doctor or cosmetic surgeon.
