And yes, the bacon! Soft, round, with rolls and perhaps equipped with handles. Summer is approaching and the thought of our swimsuit silhouette already presses us.
What can be done to get rid of the belly besides the usual, obvious, hated diet and workout?
What kind of belly do you have?
Let us first begin by distinguishing women’s bellies from men’s bellies.
In normality, the female waistline increases due to fat accumulating under the skin (subcutaneous fat) at the top of the abdominal muscles. This forms the bacon into soft rolls.
According to the hormonal and constitutional characteristics of each, the unsightly belly is then associated in two typical configurations:
- Pear-shaped : fat is arranged from the waist down. Abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs to ankles;
- Apple-shaped : fat accumulates on the abdomen deep down leaving the legs skinny.
Instead, men develop a round, protruding belly that is hard to the touch. This is because the fat sits deep beneath the muscles, surrounding the organs (visceral fat).
These distinctions are not clear-cut: there are women (apple) who also develop visceral fat, and there are men who have subcutaneous panniculus adiposus in addition to deep fat.
Reduce belly naturally
Let’s say right away that if you have visceral or subcutaneous fat, the way to dispose of it is primarily through the application of suitable dietary restrictions and “fat burning” muscle training.
For subcutaneous fat (belly fat), aesthetic medicine offers different possibilities according to different situations, but first it is necessary:
- Regulate diet. : A proper protein diet with a high content of essential amino acids and high nutritional quality can result in weight reduction related to fat mass reduction;
- Exercise. : prefer aerobic activity that can initiate the process that uses fat (lipids) for energy. By identifying the right heart rate to make the body use the most fat, various types of physical activities can be initiated: brisk walking (cardiowalking), bicycling, swimming. For abdominal muscle tone, however, gym exercises (but also at home) crunches (high, low, obliques), planks are recommended.
Reduce belly through cosmetic surgery
These systems may already be sufficient if the waist is in excess by a few inches. The situation is different if the belly is a little large. In these cases, aesthetic medicine can be of great help. The most popular treatments of the moment are:
- Mini liposuction (liposculpture): cosmetic surgery best suited to eliminate tummy rolls. The operation, which is minimally invasive (it is performed on an outpatient basis in a short time and under local anesthesia), can remove about 200 g of fat a time;
- Carboxytherapy : consists of sessions of localized intradermal micro-injections of medical-grade carbon dioxide. Localized vasodilation is achieved, which increases the speed of microcirculation, tissue oxygenation, and, of course, lipolysis;
- Phosphatidylcholine injections. : intradermal or subcutaneous infiltrations of this substance (fat dissolver);
- Cryolipolysis (coolsculpting): a cold source on the area to be treated causes “freezing” and thus destruction of fat cells;
- Radiofrequency : The emission of special radio waves through localized handpieces activates microcirculation and lymphatic drainage resulting in fat removal. It is often combined with dynamic muscle activation (DMA), which stimulates the muscular system and triggers a tissue firming effect. The body is reshaped, localized fat is reduced, and microcirculation and oxygenation are improved;
- SmoothShapes : The treatment takes advantage of an innovative technology that uses dynamic light from two different laser sources to liquefy fat from enlarged fatty tissues by stimulating weakened collagen through mechanical connective tissue massage;
- Cavitation, or External Ultrasonic Liposculpture: this is also a noninvasive and painless technique to reduce excess fat. Low-frequency ultrasound breaks down the membrane of adipocytes (fat cells), thereby removing fat, which is then eliminated naturally.
